Dry Spell

I seem to be going through a dry spell.  I just cannot think of anything to post about.  I cannot think of anything to say that people would want to read.  Total block.

Does this happen to you?

How do you get yourself out of it?

Can you think of something I should write about?

Ask me something . . . anything . . .

almost.

Help!

Okay, first of all, I don't see how people can not think of something to write about when there is always ME!! Tell us something about your neighborhood. Talk about extended family...brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews....names and details aren't necessary, if you prefer. Got any good recipes you wanna share? I print recipes I see on the blogs all the time for Mike to try. Do you have a veggie garden...do you wanna.

How about your fav color? Get some pics of objects that are your fav color and tell us about them. Maybe you have fav things in the house...what are they and why? Do you watch sports? Hockey is a big deal right now. What's your favorite food, dessert? Just a few ideas, anyway. Need more, just let me know.

How to get out of a dry spell? You just did it. You declared that you are in a blogging dry spell.

Nothing like that, to prompt the 'Blogging Muse' to fly back to your shoulder again.

Declaring dry spell, annnnnnnnnnd saying you are taking a blogging holiday, because of a dry spell...

Now that last one, is sure-fire!!!

Being out in nature helps me. Sitting by a river, etc.

I ask my boys for a writing prompt. Since my blog is for practicing my writing, the challenge is being able to respond to any prompt. So if you'd like, I could shoot you one of theirs! Also, for homeschooling, I have them do a journal, and I give THEM a prompt each day. Glad to share, if you like. tndowney@gmail.com

What do I do? I come see what you are writing about! :D

I either have too many ideas and too many words per post (I think I hear snoring and toilets flushing when people read mine) or nothing at all comes to mind.

I like the idea of the prompt though. Good exercise for the old noggin.

I like the idea of a prompt, too. It would be fun to come up with a broad prompt andall of us do a post on that prompt. Any ideas? Okay Tina, give us a prompt!

I find people still read when you have nothing to say!

Nice new look here :)

Oh yeah, this happens to me a lot. When I first started blogging you couldn't shut me up, but of late I can't think of a thing to say. I only post once, maybe twice a week and I definitely couldn't find anything to post about everyday.

I read and I piddle around in my studio.
Straighten up that pile of "research" papers, and file away in proper binders.
Read.
Vacuum studio and sitting area.
Read.
Yard work, a little gardening.
Read some more.
And as I piddle around, I might do a piece or two and next thing I know, I'm back in it.

When I can't seem to get anything done to post about on my blog, or I'm way behind, I just post a favorite song, complete with video.
Or a random book that I really want to do some projects from.
The fillers is what I call them.

One of my favorite posts was the question asking whether folks liked tea or coffee. Very simple, but fun and interesting answers. I've got an ongoing theme of favorite breakfast places and am starting pictures of food. Not especially dynamic, but fun and I take the pictures to go with the posts.

what great comments! I sometimes find a comment left prompts an idea for another post ( just did a post about maypole dancing - and it prompted a post about pole dancing ! )
I get random ideas & scribble them down in a book. Sometimes asking a question at the end of a post like - what was your worst dream / holiday/ date etc ...is good too - gets everyone taking part.
I shouldn't worry - you've been upset recently - that would throw anyone. Whatever you write about - I'll read it ! xx

So glad we found each other, Dear Kindred Spirit! The REPEAL on my blog, showed you our "kindred-ness." ,-)

Wouldn't it be nice if there was some sort of a semi-secret code, to let people know our views? Perhaps that's it! The word REPEAL. ,-)

Whacha' think? Could we use it, to wave Hi to kindred spirits, while not turning away those who ... are not?

Let's see... How to word a sig. line? "A.A. says Repeal" "A.A. says REPEAL" Perhaps the all bold letters is too in-your-face-confrontational. I'm not afraid of confrontation. I avoid it, in "Pretty Blog Land" though. I don't want to turn any ladies off, before I get a chance to show them my daily Good Reading links, on top of my Sidebar. :-)
